The kids and adults
over at AWTeen are going back in time to before they were born,
WAY before. AWTeen is bringing one popular summertime event back
to ActiveWorlds by holding a day long medieval festival, called
the AWTeen Renaissance Faire, on August 5th.
AWTeen will transform itself on that Sunday into the kingdom of
AWTeen, where a King and Queen preside, and regular citizens will
become merchants, blacksmiths, peasants, and farmers who will bow
down before nobles and ladies. Dozens of AWTeen citizens and volunteers
will become members of the AWTeen Kingdom, re-enacting daily life
during the Time of New Thinking in European history.
As you walk down the streets of the interactive area, you'll hear
the busy rustlings of merchants selling their goods, theories and
pamphlets of John Locke being distributed, and Ladys and Lords clenching
their teeth in front of the dirty and uncivilized public. Head on
over to the famous Globe Theater and see classic performances of
Shakespearean works such as Julius Caesar from a newly developed
group of PerformerBots, courtesy of Magine. Or head over to the
Public Commons and witness a virtual execution of someone accused
of wrongdoing. Make your way towards the battle arena, where a large
jousting tournament will end in a crowning of an AWTeen knight.
If you're lucky, you might be invited into the castle to watch entertainers
try to become royal jesters and meet with the Royal Family. If you're
just looking for a relaxing time, sit down and enjoy a peaceful
sonnet competition out by the shades.
The Era of New Thinking will take over AWTeen on August 5th, from
2pm vrt to 8pm VRT at 1600s 600w. A cast of over 30 people have
already been assembled to give you a truly interactive experience
and a great day of fun. So come on over and get ye medieval English
ready, and come out to enjoy the great day we have planned for you.
It is truly a one-of-a-kind event. |
