Winding its way around Cape Breton Island, the Cabot Trail is rated as the most scenic drive in the world by several magazines. Just 195mi long, it varies in elevation from sea level to a plateau of 1400ft, and includes several vegetative zones. The trail, which begins at the town of Baddeck at its southernmost point, includes 26 lookouts with exhibits and displays describing the scenery. During your tour, Chris will drive you to all the lookouts to view the majetic vistas.
Cape Breton National Park includes a number of hiking trails. You will have the opportunity to walk some of these trails, either joining the arduous ones that Chris and Steve select, or going off on your own for a more leisurely stroll.
Whereas it is possible to travel the trail in either direction, we elected to travel it clockwise. That way, you'll be able to sit near the left windows of the van and get a better view of the ocean, as the majority of the sights on the tour will be on the left.
