Additional Features

The Shoemaker Village Paintball Bot also offers a variety of additional features to make paintball more fun.

Start and Stop Times

As of version 1.01, it is possible for users to set start and stop times for a paintball session. This feature can be accessed using the Start and Stop Times item on the Options menu.

Note the format for each of the times. For each time, you must enter the date, followed by the time (in military format). Hyphens must be used for the date separators, a colon must be used for the time separator, the year must be four digits, and leading zeroes must be included. After you have set the start and stop times, the bot will start at the scheduled local starting time, and stop at the scheduled local stopping time. These times are not in VRT. Users can also find out how much time is remaining in the session by saying (or whispering to the bot) "time", if this feature is enabled.

Save Score List

This function saves a list of the current scores to a text file for later access. Currently, the bot saves score lists (opened in the login screen) as random access files, meaning that they can only be accessed by the bot application itself. While we hope to fix this in a future version, currently the score lists can be saved as a text file using this function. Be careful not to accidentily save over the score file that the bot is using currently. This function is disabled when scoring is not enabled.

Filter Bad Words

This feature allows the user to specify words that are unacceptable in chat at the paintball fields. If the bot detects any of these worlds anywhere in a sentence, the player who said them is ejected for five minutes.

Of course, you would omit the asterisks and enter the entire word; they are shown here only to uphold the censorship guidelines of the Village.

Add Bot

This function allows the user to add an additional bot to the network while a game in in progress. To activate this function, choose "Add Bot" from the "Actions" menu. The Setup dialog then reappears, except that only the lower pane is enabled. Simply reenter the information in the same fashion as you did when you logged in the bots the first time. After passing the logging in... screen, the new bot will function as if it were logged in originally.

Remove Bot

This feature enables the user to remove a bot from a world while paintball is in progress. If a bot is ejected from a world or disconnects, this function is automatically invoked to prevent the crash of the network. Simply select this function from the Actions menu and select the bot you wish to remove.

Skull Cleanup

This feature allows the user to remove all the "skulls" in a world that has skull creation enabled. After a time, these objects can build up until they are so great in number that they create lag and distract players. After opening the dialog box by selecting "Skull Cleanup" from the Actions menu, select the world where you wish to clean up skulls using the combo box. After a brief period of time, the number of skulls on the playing field will be displayed. Select "Cleanup" to begin deleting skull objects at the rate of 10 per second. While skulls are being deleted, choose "Cancel" to stop cleanup.
